The Vine Ltd. (founded 2003) is a specialist importer which has a mission to offer Japanese wine drinkers the best selection of the finest Rhone, Southern French and Catalan wines being made today.

We are passionate about offering Japan's best selection of the best Rhone wines being made today, and other iconoclastic wines from around the world.  Our wines are all made naturally and in most cases from organic vineyards by top quality artisan producers who succeed in expressing the authenticity of their terroir.  We have a close and personal connection with them and are the sole and exclusive authorised importer; all wines are imported directly from the producer by reefer container. We are different from other importers because of our close personal connection with the region we import from; our wine buyer lives for part of the year in his house in Vacqueyras in the southern Rhone Valley. He is an acknowledged expert on Rhone wine, a highly experienced taster and is also a personal friend of many top producers.

This gives us a unique and privileged access to the Domaines of the region and has enabled us to select an outstanding portfolio of Rhone wines for the Japanese market. Many of these wines will surprise consumers who are not familiar with Rhone wines or who are used to the old fashioned style of tired and rough wines. Ours are authentic, naturally made wines which are clearly defined, vibrantly fruity, refreshing to drink and are pure, silky and elegant.

Naturally we ship direct from the producer's cellar and we ensure that the wine is handled with great care in temperature controlled conditions throughout the whole journey from the producer to our temperature controlled warehouse in Japan. We select our wines very carefully. We do not rely on guidebooks to tell us what to buy because we are able to visit many producers frequently and regularly see all aspects of their production. We taste hundreds of wines for ourselves. We select producers who are passionate and rigorous about producing the highest quality wines year in, year out. Most of these producers are small family-owned Domaines where the wines continue to be hand made in an artisan manner respecting tradition and terroir (soil and grape variety).
