Gangloff AOC Cote Rotie La Sereine Noire 2007
download pdfAbout
This is Gangloff's old Syrah vine Cuvee, with no Viognier and 30% stems kept in, and part grown in the Cote Brune of Cote Rotie. Thus it's darker and more powerful and muscular than La Barbarine and is ideally kept for about 5 years before drinking.
Tasting notes
This has explosive aromas of dark fruit, mineral and spice, a touch of roast meat and a thicker, firmer palate with more grip from the tannins. Complex and energetic with great mineral acidity, the layers of this wine unfold slowly and the length is truly impressive.
Vintage Notes
2007 has been celebrated as a vintage of a lifetime in the Southern Rhone. It was also superb in the Northern Rhone and the wines have unusual richness and volume. The key was the long, warm and dry autumn which brought about perfect ripeness.
