Gangloff AOC Condrieu 2008
download pdfAbout
Gangloff's Condrieu is always opulent, luscious and honeyed with notes of botrytis, but also remarkably pure and intense fruit. Though made and aged part in new wood, it's not at all oaky. And for all its richness, it always has amazing freshness. Fabulous!
Tasting notes
The 2008 displays a much more Viognier character than usual with Gangloff! It has a very pure apricot skin aroma and intense mineral background. As usual it's intense and rich but at the same time "cool" and with really good length.
Vintage Notes
2008 was a difficult year in Condrieu and neighbouring Cote Rotie. The summer was not particularly warm and there was frequent rain. Many wines are pretty green. Thus Gangloff's success is all the more rewarding and is due partly to a very serious selection which meant he made 50% less than normal. Amazingly he's got real ripeness and purity and his range is pure pleasure.
